Conservation Services

The Department operates a paper conservation lab, with services available to the public.  Treatment in the conservation laboratory can stop the self-destructive elements found in most paper and prolong the life of cherished belongings.

The lab's  primary mission is to restore and preserve public records in the Archives' own holdings.  It acts as a statewide resource for individuals and other institutions requiring help with conservation projects

A document conservator is available two days each week to provide advice on the care of documents to individuals or institutions.  Conservation services provided include:

  •  Document treatment and repair
  •  Book repair
  •  Photographic media
  •  Consultation

The link on the left provides more information on our services to the public and how to contact us.
